With around 50 dedicated employees and a structure that focuses on efficiency and continual improvement, SLSP plays a key role in supporting education and research. SLSP uses open communication, flat hierarchies and a customer-orientated approach to consolidate scientific libraries in Switzerland and Switzerland as a scientific location.
SLSP is a young and dynamic organisation characterised by its agile structures, which allow employees to contribute their strengths and interests within their teams and beyond. This flexible and integrative way of working promotes innovation and creativity. This, together with a modern working model and the opportunities for advancement, makes SLSP an attractive employer.
The three service units at SLSP – Network Services, Management Services and Consortial Services – are the backbone of the company. Network Services is responsible for the core system swisscovery and the comprehensive service portfolio associated with it. It provides support to affiliated libraries and contributes significantly to optimising library management. Consortial Services negotiates and administers licences for the institutions participating in the consortium, meaning that SLSP plays a key role in academic licence management. Management Services is in charge of internal support processes, encompassing areas such as People & Culture, internal IT and Finance, including invoicing end customers for libraries.
The management of SLSP handles the company’s operative business and secures SLSP’s leading role in information management. The Board of Directors determines the company’s strategic orientation and objectives. The Library Board is the higher-level participatory body appointed by the Board of Directors for the governance of swisscovery, and it supports the SLSP management in technical matters. It ensures that the interests of the various types of libraries are taken into account in the design of projects, services, rules and standards. The types of library include those of a university, a university of applied sciences, a university of teacher education and other academic or patrimonial libraries, which are connected to swisscovery.
Its industry expertise, dynamic corporate structure and strong customer focus combine to make SLSP ideally situated to overcome challenges in information management, and to improve continually.
Strategic partnerships are the foundation of SLSP’s success. They enable the platform to consolidate its network on a continual basis and to promote progress actively in scientific information management. SLSP provides its services to ensure that information management in Switzerland is always state of the art. This is clearly visible from the relationship of confidence that SLSP has built up. SLSP’s industry expertise and commitment to meeting its customers’ needs make the company an indispensable partner in the world of scientific libraries and information management.
SLSP is a not-for-profit organisation. Contributions from affiliated libraries are used to cover ongoing costs and to improve the shared library platform swisscovery and the services connected with it.
